Celebration is the “safe haven” post-prom event provided for all Bromfield Juniors and Seniors (plus any non-Bromfield prom dates) by a large community of parents and other volunteers. The Celebration committee operates as a committee of the Harvard Schools Parent-Teacher organization (PTO).
For over 15 years, The Bromfield School has been decorated in line with a secret theme. The school is transformed in about 8 hours to a welcoming, fun, substance-free environment to be enjoyed by the students and their guests. Families and anyone else interested “ooh and aah” at the transformation during the public walk-through which is held prior to the students’ arrival.
Making Celebration happen takes a volunteer army of parents, friends, and anyone else with a desire to help keep Bromfield teens safe on prom night. All involved feel it’s well-worth the effort to help prevent post-prom tragedies. There is entertainment, lots of good food, and places for students to ‘hang’ in small groups to talk and contemplate their lives ahead – maybe even dream!
Key to attendance is keeping the event no-charge for the students, and also keeping them engaged through the night with activities, entertainment, and food. While much is borrowed for the event, donations of all kinds are needed to make Celebration happen. Individual and corporate monetary donations are always appreciated and there are ways to donate other items such as food. There are many opportunities to donate time and talent also —creatively, administratively, support for set-up and take-down, and many others. If you would like to help, please visit the Volunteers Needed! and Donate pages.
